Now the Lonely Island has recreated this song with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, this time using classroom instruments, including a xylophone, a rubber ducky maraca, a kazoo, a block that you can hit with a small mallet (don’t know the technical name, sorry), and Andy Samberg hitting a pair of flip-flops together. The Lonely Island’s hilarious late-night television premiere of I’m On a Boat tied a nice ribbon on the comedy troupe’s quick ascension in popularity, since it was Jimmy Fallon that got the trio their first stable writing gigs on Saturday Night Live. Their 2009 single “I’m On A Boat” is one of their best examples, with exaggeratedly aggressive and profane lyrics about the most mundane aspects of partying on a yacht. The song, produced by Wyshmaster, is a parody of many rap video clichés, especially the music video for the Jay-Z song 'Big Pimpin. It was also featured as a Saturday Night Live Digital Short.
